How we ranked these movers

Licenses are a pass/fail gate. Customer experience is the score: five bars for care, on time, quote matched, friendly, and easy to reach. The award follows this ranking and cannot be bought.

The award follows the Joliet IL ranking. Gate = printed Illinois Commerce Commission Household Goods License (ILCC) on the same legal name plus SAFER ACTIVE HHG (AUTHORIZED FOR Motor Carrier of Household Goods when interstate). Two Men and a Truck is our pick / award winner with overall 9.2 on care, on-time, quote-matched, friendly, and easy-to-reach at the Glendale Heights pin (Maps 4.8 from 766; ILCC 9932 MC; USDOT 2584979). Rank the Google Maps listing is in the city first (Two Men and a Truck 9.2 n=766, Fly Guy 8.6 n=556, Save Your Back 8.6 n=227, Good Move 8.4 n=360); ranks 5–6 fill from highest remaining overalls (Murphy Family Movers 10.0, H2H Movers 9.8) with metro-pin / not Joliet-local disclosure on those cards. Maps bars are shown as published at overall 9.2. Companies cannot buy it. Ask to see ILCC.

Source notes

Licenses are a gate: Illinois Commerce Commission Household Goods License (ILCC) for intrastate for-hire HHG, plus SAFER ACTIVE with Household Goods / AUTHORIZED FOR Motor Carrier of Household Goods when interstate. Two Men and a Truck is our pick / award winner — Glendale Heights Maps pin, the Google Maps listing is in the city, ILCC 9932 MC, USDOT 2584979, SAFER ACTIVE HHG; overall 9.2 on care, on-time, quote-matched, friendly, and easy-to-reach (Maps overall). Ranks 2–4 use overall score among other movers with a pin in the city; ranks 5–6 fill from highest overalls from movers with pins outside the city with metro-pin disclosure. Google stars and review counts are copied from Maps panels. The 1–5 score cards are not the rank; rank is our pick for #1, then overall score with the pin policy for 2–6. Best Movers in Joliet, IL FAQs

Who is the best mover in Joliet, IL?
Two Men and a Truck (PAUL M BROWN & ASSOCIATES INC) is our pick: 4.8 from 766 Google reviews at 520 Windy Point Dr, Glendale Heights, IL 60139, overall 9.2/10, USDOT 2584979, ILCC 9932 MC. Compare a written estimate with Fly Guy Moving (8.6 from 556) and Save Your Back Moving (8.6 from 227). Ranks 5–6 may use metro pins — disclosed as not Joliet-local.
How does Moving Company HQ rank Joliet IL movers?
Gate = Illinois Commerce Commission Household Goods License (ILCC) + SAFER ACTIVE HHG. Two Men and a Truck is our pick with overall 9.2 (Maps overall among movers with a pin in the city; n=766). Ranks 5–6 fill from highest overalls from movers with pins outside the city (Murphy Family Movers 10.0, H2H Movers 9.8) with metro-pin / not Joliet-local disclosure. Stars and bars come from Google Maps panels — not company-site widgets. Companies cannot buy a rank.
Do I need an Illinois ICC Household Goods License to hire a local mover?
For Illinois in-state for-hire household-goods work, ask to see a printed Illinois Commerce Commission Household Goods License (ILCC / ILL.C.C.) and match the legal name on SAFER ACTIVE HHG. USDOT alone is not the ILCC. Interstate jobs also need FMCSA SAFER ACTIVE with Motor Carrier of Household Goods OA and Protect Your Move. Complaints: ICC.Moving@illinois.gov · 217-782-6448.
Why are some ranked movers listed outside the city?
After ranking movers with a pin in the city, this guide may fill remaining slots from highest overalls from movers with pins outside the city so shoppers still see strong Chicagoland SAFER+ILCC passers. Those cards disclose metro pin / not Joliet-local. Prefer a mover with a pin in the city when locality matters.
What about Bernard, Midway, Ampol, or other names on the roster?
Bernard Movers and Midway Moving & Storage scored but sit below / outside the six for Joliet (often Chicago pins outside the city). Gate fails (brokers, property-except-HHG, wrong USDOT) and unknowns (no ILCC) are also-compared only. Ampol (Arlington Heights) prints an ILCC but had no matching ACTIVE USDOT for this guide — cannot pass without USDOT. Re-check SAFER and ICC before hiring.
